Reflections 2...

Again, taken during the Chinese Lantern Festival (2008) at Ontario Place, Toronto, Ontario. We were there from mid-afternoon into the late evening. It was a day I will never forget. I love not only the reflections in this shot, but the depth as well. Lanterns are pretty spectacular, too.

Thus endeth March.

Reflections...

This was taken during the Chinese Lantern Festival (2008) at Ontario Place, Toronto, Ontario. Taken as night was seeping in. It was the trees and lanterns reflected in the water that caught my eye.

Thank you for standing in for me last week, Keziah! Love the images you chose.

Saturday!

Happy Dog Woods

Ky is heading slowly back from exploring the woods on my friend's property. We're headed over there today. I'm sure it won't be so green but it will definitely be lovely.

Edinburgh in Spring

Ok, I admit it.  I took this picture more for the crocus than the tree, but since there technically are trees in the photo...

This is what spring looks like in Edinburgh, and it lasts a long time.  Crocus and daffodils bloom and bloom, and then the cherry trees start their show. It's so very beautiful.

[Note to self: track down pictures of cherry trees taken in Edinburgh.]

Enchanted tree

It's not the best quality but I really like the play of light around the branches. It looks like something from Oz.

Delft at Night

Several years ago, I attended a meeting in Delft, The Netherlands.  There wasn't much time for exploring, but I took a few pictures here and there.  This one I remember taking on the walk back from dinner.  I have no idea what effect I was going for, or whether I was using the flash on my camera.  I do remember having a horrible time trying to hold still enough so that the light my camera did capture wasn't blurred into streaks.  The result, whatever I did, was this surreal night shot looking up through the leafing trees at a local church.

One from Theresa

Last Fall, Theresa forgot to bring her camera when she came to visit. I let her loose in the park with mine. I'm pretty sure she took this one.  We both like bark but she takes more pictures of it.  I should post some more on  her posting days.

Spring

If you spot the robin, despite the fact that the photo was taken last summer, it means Spring is on its way.  I definitely operate on the theory that if you dream it, they will come.

Elen's Stand In

Interesting bark by the light of the full moon - and the flash from my camera phone. I didn't realize it was turned on.

Elen's busy this weekend but we're hoping she's back next week.

Fall Orchard

This past fall, we went in search of a farmer's stand when visiting my sister in upstate NY.   The apple trees were lovely, and reminded of many a fall apple picking with my family.

Bowed, not broken

Heavy snow didn't break this branch.  It bounced right back the next day after the melt.

Bark

Back I can't remember when (January?), I posted a picture of a tree with pealing bark in the late afternoon light. Except I'd taken the picture with my camera phone, and it just didn't do the coolness of the tree justice.  That weekend, I made a point to stop by with my camera, to give another try at capturing the amazing bark on the tree.  I think this picture captures it best.

Japanese maple in winter

I  really like the bare branches sticking up through the snow. You get a true sense of the tree's shape that way.

Night Shadows

I couldn't resist taking this picture one night this winter when I was walking through a part of my neighborhood that I don't usually see.  Especially at night.  I had no idea whether my camera could manage to capture what I was seeing--it tends to lighten up dark shots.  And, I admit that I faded it out a bit, to try to recreate what it really felt like.

And a road runs through it...

One of the many red roads that abound on Prince Edward Island. This was a detour right before we hit the Prince Edward Island National Park on the Central Coastal Drive, Green Gables Shore. Someone had gone missing, and a search and rescue had be launched.

This road is very red, and only single lane wide. There were three of us being diverted. We didn't know where we would end up, but it wouldn't be the national park.

Trees and scrub.

Cheers!

Trunk Tap...

This makes me think of a barrel being tapped. What a great old trunk. Look at all the channels and grooves. Groovy.

Cheers!

Sun in the valley

I lost my lens cap taking this photo but the sun was leaving the valley as I watched.

Outstretched

I can't decide if this tree is doing Kali arms and bellydancing or pointing the way.

Peeking a toe out

Soon this will be an image of the past as Spring slowly melts the snow.

See through...

These limbs feel like they're floating. I like the way they provide a see through view.

Taken at Gatineau Park, Quebec in October of 2011.

Cheers!

Armed and green...

I'm ready for green.

The 2013 Color of the Year is emerald green.

Green.

Makes me think of St. Patrick's Day.

I'm ready for green.

These lovelies with their branches that look like just so many arms.

Armed in green.

Cheers!

Goooal!

It looks like the two trees are goalposts and the other two are the net to catch the ball.

Dressed for the weather...

The snow is thick and heavy.

The evergreen is dressed for the weather.

Trees in snow-plops...

A white birch laden with snow-plops after our last big snow in February. An hour later, it had all plopped to the ground.

Plop. Plop, plop, plop.
