When a tree sees its shadow...

 

This shot was taken Sunday at Frenchman's Bay. 

I happened to notice the tree was casting a shadow, so I put a version of this up on Instagram with this caption: "That tree saw its shadow, and we're going to have 6 more months of winter." #cackle #winter

I like the way Smokey's shovel handle appears to branch out into a tree.

Traveling along Route 103 between Kittery and Portsmouth, Maine, we pulled off the road at the entrance to Fort McClary State Park.

So sayeth the signage.

Clearly a tree was cut. Perhaps, it was the result of storm damage.

I was attracted to the light bouncing off the cut wood.

Troll House...

I've been taking clicks of this piece of tree trunk since 2010, when I dubbed it Dwarf Troll House For Rent.

Every year since then finds me at Edwards Gardens (Toronto) clicking away and imagining what troll families might have come and gone.

I've shot it during more than one season, and the perspective changes a little each year.

I still need some winter shots.

This is a stick up.

This was taken at Edwards Gardens in Toronto last November. Hence, the lack of colour and foliage, etc.

That tree has a face, arms, and forward motion. Unbelievable.

This is my beautiful rosemary bush three days before Christmas.
