Living Bonnet...

The Rhubarb Kitchen Garden is on the main street of Skaneateles, New York in the Finger Lakes. I found it charming the way the trees behind seem to be forming a living bonnet covering the roof of the building.

Things in trees

Cactus growing in a tree. This is growing at my friend's cottage. Her house had the volunteer photo last week. I like that she doesn't weed her trees. I like that it's even an issue.

Look up

While walking the Zdog in Virginia, I fell in love. I cannot tell you how many times I almost tripped over him. He looked up into the trees all the time. I do the same. I don't know what catches his attention but it holds it. This is what he was looking at.

Lovely.

We've got you covered...

This is one of my fave spots to just be. It's a place where architecture happily communes with nature.

Click it bigger, baby.

Taken on the summer solstice, because we're having date night all day long. Rosetta McClain Gardens, Scarborough, Ontario.

Sweeping branches

Before they leafed.

This tree caught my eye in the Fall but I've rarely had opportunity to photograph it. I like the bare branches reaching out to the grapevines.

Close Shot: Tree of Steel

This is Graft by Roxy Paine from his Dendroids tree series. Its locale is the National Art Gallery Sculpture Garden on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

I call it Tree of Steel.

I'm cross-posting this with Elen Grey's Blog and putting the full length image there for my Single Shot Sunday post. Click on over. It's worth it.

Here's another view.

This tree belongs in Oz.

Triplets...

I looked at these trees and immediately thought of triplets. They look like they've all just come from the clip and curl.

Ponds on the Meadow Farm

I may have stepped in poison ivy to take this photo. The Meadow Farm is the birthplace of Secretariat.

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom...

The original image.

This is a slice of the image. I wanted to show just the branches against the wall.

I call it Zoom, Zoom, Zoom.

C'mere

I don't know what that tree is reaching for but I'm sure it will catch it. Look how straight the trunk is in comparison to that branch. It really wants something.

Queenston Heights

I like the contrast of the trunk and branches with the leaves and sky. Nature has an incredible paint palate.

The Poodle Effect...

Taken on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. You could actually use these as nature's umbrellas.

They made me think of poodles that have been trimmed.

The first daily tree post of June!
