Tree hugger

So tall and lovely and protective of its neighbour. I like the way way one appears to be hugging the other.

ladies in pink...

This shot was taken outside of the Whitby Public Library in Whitby, Ontario late spring/early summer. I always check-out the public library when I'm visiting a community. You?

I thought the pink would be a welcome change from the autumnal color!

Ladies in Pink, or for you Grease fans, the Pink Ladies!

Cheers!

In repose...

Back at Edwards Gardens in Toronto for today's Daily Tree.

I feel like I'm peeking in. The trees are in repose and unaware.

Nature's accessories

This tree lost its leaves early on so it draped a bright red cluster of leaves and berries across its bare branches.

None shall pass

This tree stood right at the water's edge. With its comrades, it provides a nearly impenetrable wall.  Small woodland creatures can seek landfall but humans are too big to squeeze through the roots and branches.

Seclusion

For some reason, this makes me think of a Robert Frost poem. I love everything about this image. The light. The dead settled in a secluded spot. I like to think it was of his choosing. The figure at the base of the cross. I wonder what that is about?

Her Majesty...

On the edge of a local cemetery. Taken yesterday. Speaks for itself.

UnbeLeafably Beautiful

Look at the play of light in the leaves.  I walked past this tree then backed up.  My initial impression was of the colour but then the light really caught my attention - and held it. I was almost late for work.  Well worth it, don't you think?
That was the back of the leaves.

This is the front

Two little trees all alone

I'm not sure what kind of trees these are but I like them.  That could have been the title for this blog as I rarely know what kind of tree it is. I usually like it anyway.

This is a close-up of the berries.

Down by the lake

Theresa and I went for a walk down by the lake the other day.  We were filling the memory card with photos for this blog then the weather turned. On the way back it was difficult to tell the clouds from the lake. That's  one of the many things I appreciate about this photo.  It's a good season to take tree pictures.

Playing Dress Up...

Caught while driving down the road in Michigan, USA.

No, no. I wasn't driving. I was pointing and clicking.

I call it Playing Dress Up.

Cheers!

Topiary in nature...

This gem can be found at Rosetta McClain Gardens near the Scarborough Bluffs, Scarborough, Ontario. We visited in August. It's the only park in the GTA where I have seen black squirrels with golden tails.

I call it Topiary in Nature.

Cheers!

Mangrove

Much of my walk that last day in Brisbane was along the Brisbane river. Some places were still think with Mangroves. It was difficult to capture how cool it was to walk along a boardwalk through these quiet and dark groves.

Raccoon nose

One long branch of the mulberry tree has reached across the roof of the porch so that it touches the office window. There are days when it is an active apartment complex with multi-generational households as well as several different species.  This sweetie has visited me several times over the last few weeks. I adore his nose.

Banyan Tree

This is the last tree photo from my trip to Brisbane. While I"ve forgotten names of most of the flora and fauna that I saw on my trip, I think this is a banyan tree.

Entwined

If I remember correctly from the Spring, this is a crabapple.  I could be wrong. Regardless, every time I walk past it, I am struck by the twist of the trunks.

Clinging Vine

While visiting an herb farm at Battle Creek, Michigan, I came across this tree with ivy running along the trunk from roots to top. This is one section near the base.

Cheers!

Barn Hugger

Taken last week at Battle Creek, Michigan. I looked across the street from where I was photographing and sign and thought, "Barn Hugger." Yes, I am strange that way.

Cheers!

Arthur's Seat

I can almost smell the leaves decomposing at the base of these trees. Even better, I can hear the crunch, swish as we walked among them. I love Autumn

Giraffe

No really, there's a giraffe in this picture. A green, leafy giraffe.

Shower of gold

The wind blew through just after I took these pictures and laid a carpet of gold leaves on the lawn. I didn't think to photograph that.  I could have named it post-tree

Dappled Path

This photo was also taken on the long walk during my last day in Brisbane. I loved the dappled pattern the shadows of the leaves created on the path.

Pretty little maidens

These trees line the drive at the community centre.  All of them are red on one side and green on the other.
