Who needs fencing when you have trees and hedges. I walked right up to that gate and still couldn't see the whole of the house.

I thought of cropping this photo so you could see the beauty of the tree close-up but the reason I actually snapped the photo was because the tree was an oasis in that field on a dry unusually HOT Spring day in Scotland.

It looks like the tree on the right, while wearing a pretty necklace, is supporting the one on the left that lost a limb

I could probably write six months of Daily Tree posts from Hermitage alone.  We loved it so much there that we went back the next day.  I'd like to see it in Spring.

Wave

This beauty seems to be waving from the end of the path. Over here! Ignore the Evergreen and come to me!
Or maybe that's just my impression.

River Almond

The bark was so smooth on this tree, it was shiny.  Oddly, I've seen the plant in the foreground growing in my friend's yard in Virginia.  I'm surprised it survives the Scottish winter.

Twisted

This gnarly tree stands guard outside Dunkeld cathedral. There's a row of these trees.  They have long pointy thorns and seem fierce yet birds sat on their branches while we ate our lunch beneath them.  I have no idea what type of tree it is but I like it. A lot.

That's a larch in the background. I love them.  My great-great grandfather is partially responsible for their abundance in that area of Scotland

The left shadow looks like it's trying to take a bite out of the center one.

 That's what it looks to me - an arboreal starfish.

It's brutally hot here today, and muggy, so I'm desperate for some cool shade. The weather was the same the day I shot this picture in Dunfermline.  That little trickle of water was cold.

This discarded wee Christmas tree got wedged in the larger tree by the wind...and it was stuck up there for a good long while.  I don't think it was still there when I moved back to the US.

I loved the contrasts in this picture:  The dark, almost black bark against the vivid green, against the light stone of the tenement.
