Venerable...

This image was taken at one of my favorite spots in Toronto, Ontario -- Edwards Gardens.

And this is one of my favorite trees. I call it Venerable.

It was a very bright day, so the top of this Weeping Willow looks almost as if the tree were given highlights at a swank downtown salon. This tree knows. I feel it when I stand beneath it.

I'm leaning against the trunk, snapping this shot from under the veil. I could happily pitch a tent there.

Come to Toronto. Enjoy the beauty and tranquility and surprise that is Edward Gardens.

Accessorized Trees

Thank you, Theresa! Let me say, I am delighted to be a new contributor to The Daily Tree, which speaks to me. I have always loved trees in all their glory.

The below shot was taken on a recent trip to Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest province. This scene is on Richmond Street, a pedestrian-only street of artisan shops and restaurants in Charlottetown.

I love the colorful paper lanterns hanging from the branches. So playful.

Here's a close-up shot of the tree bobbles.

I think I have some earrings like that!

Growing on a tree

We have an important announcement to share. Elen, a good friend of Keziah's, loves trees as much as we do, and she is joining the blog! Elen will be posting on the weekends, starting tomorrow. I'm quite looking forward to the trees that she'll share. Perhaps one day soon the three of us will have a chance to admire trees together in person. Welcome, Elen!

Not just a tree

I just couldn't resist showing at least some wildlife.

Fig Tree

I love the shape and texture of fig leaves. They're so shiny.
The fruit itself is quite small in comparison. But oh so delicious.
Thanks to Ocracoke, I am a convert to the beauty of fig trees.

Fuzzy pink flowering tree

I've been having trouble making time for trees in the past month. Which both defeats the purpose of blogging about a tree a day and means I don't get my therapeutic dose of tree. Whenever I post or come by to look at what Keziah posted, I often end up sighing and relaxing as I look back through our photos. I need to remember that it's ok to take time for trees. So tonight I'm giving myself time for trees. I finally hooked up my external hard drive where I have all my old pictures stored, including many, many tree pictures. In honor of a friend's recent trip down under, I thought I start with tree pictures that I took from my trip to Brisbane in 2008. Although when I say start, I actually mean I'm going to be going back and filling in all my missing tree posts. So take a wander back and see what trees I found in Australia.

Dunfermline

I really enjoyed the play of light through the leaves.  This path was between Pittencrieff Park and the train station. I could have spent the entire day there in among the trees. It was incredibly peaceful.
