Happy Halloween, all. This tree has gotten into the spirit. He'd be scarier if he was surrounded by more of his kind but he's doing his best.

Path
It looks like the path goes right up the tree. I can almost imagine a hobbit stepping out through a door down on the right.

Caged Pears
Theresa and I were walking through Jordan village and she suggested we keep walking. And this was why

This way.
No. This way.

Roots
These sunken roots are reaching up from beneath the earth. Can you tell Halloween is in the near future?

Rorschach tree
I like the bark and odd growth on this particular tree. It reminds me of a rorschach test in which what one sees reveals a lot about themselves.
I see a woman diving out of the cave. Or a tongue. A weird cankerous tongue. What do you see?

Untitled Tree...
I love the way the sunlight caught this tree and the brick wall in front of it.
This tree resides at the edge of Lake Skaneateles, Skaneateles, New York. It's about 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Everything was still and lovely.

Working Tree...
On the campus of College of the Atlantic, Bar Harbor, Maine.
Working Tree.
A young woman was having a lot of fun swinging on that tree. And climbing. Did I mention climbing?
It's a beautiful campus tucked in the woods by the water.

Sumac
This patch of sumac is in the middle of the field. What made them congregate there in a clump like that?

Foggy Day
Ooops. I wrote my One Good Thing Blog over here on Friday. I didn't even have the decency to post a tree photo with it. My apologies.
Here's a visual apology

Descending Trees...
Descending trees.
Don't they look like they are just marching down to the water? Maybe their roots are hot, and they want to cool them off.
Yes, that's exactly what I think.
This is a section of Acadia National Park taken from a boat cruising along the shoreline.

A Whole Lotta Trees...
Traveling Coastal Maine, I got to spend some time at Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. This is a view of Acadia National Park from the water.
Yes.
Cruising along the shore of Acadia National Park.
Maine, aka the Pine Tree State, has more trees than any other state in the US.
I believe it.
Click it bigger, baby.

Friday
And fly went into my ear. Fortunately, I was able to remove without medical intervention.
We shopped for food and wine. Our purchases amused the checkout attendants. We didn't buy the giant, 75 glass bottle of wine. Sheesh.
Afterwards, we went to the apple stand. One apple pie, jar of plums, two grey ghost squash, a half peck of honey crisps and a half bushel of cortlands. Basically, half the song.
The van tried to blow up on the way home. It might be terminal but it gave a valiant effort. We arrived home safely and parked it. Tomorrow is another day. One hopes the van does better.
